EZ-PD™ CCG5/5C: Two- and One-Port USB Type-C and Power Delivery

EZ-PD™ CCG5 is a two port and CCG5C is a one port USB Type-C and Power Delivery controller targeting Desktops, Notebooks and Docking Station. CCG5/5C integrates VBUS-to-CC short protection, VBUS-to-SBU short protection, 20V-VBUS regulator, high-voltage PFET gate drivers, SBU and USB HS mux, VBUS Over-Voltage and Over-Current Protection, and ESD protection. CCG5C is available in 40-QFN (1 port) and CCG5 is available in 96-BGA (2 ports) packages. EZ-PD™ CCG5/5C USB Type-C controller complies with the latest USB Type-C and PD standards.

CCG5/5C supports Downstream Facing Port (DFP), Upstream Facing Port (UFP), and Dual Role Port (DRP) and will fully support the Power Delivery 3.0 specification. CCG5/5C is a programmable solution with 128KB flash supporting fail-safe boot up and firmware upgrade.

    USB Type-C Specification

    USB Type-C is the new USB-IF standard that solves several challenges faced by today's Type-A and Type-B cables and connectors. USB Type-C uses a slimmer connector (measuring only 2.4-mm in height) to allow for increasing miniaturization of consumer and industrial products. The specification allows for fully reversible plugs and enables transport of both USB signals and PCIe or DisplayPort signals on the same connector. The Type-C specification aslo increases the power delivery capability from 7.5 W to 100 W.
