Cypress's PSoC® Technology to be Featured in Presentation at 2008 American Society for Engineering Education Conference and Exposition
Presentation on June 23 Will Highlight PSoC as a Platform for the Development of Embedded System Design Coursework and Laboratory Practice Materials
SAN JOSE, Calif., 2008年6月17日 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) today announced that its PSoC® technology will be featured in a paper to be presented by noted authors Dr. Alex N. Doboli and Dr. Edward H. Currie at the 2008 American Society for Engineering Education Conference and Exposition. The paper will be presented in room 316 of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 23 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.
Doboli and Currie, along with Cypress's Patrick Kane and David Van Ess, will present "New and Innovative Educational Material for Teaching Mixed-Domain Embedded Systems to Undergraduate/Graduate Students." Their presentation will discuss development of innovative, mixed-signal system design coursework, including teaching materials and methodologies for the co-design of performance-optimized modules for signal sensing, control, actuation, and communication in embedded systems. Auburn University Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor, Victor T. Nelson, will moderate the discussion.
"Traditionally, undergraduate students have been exposed to mixed-signal, embedded systems in the form of discrete microprocessors and microcontrollers, analog to digital converters, and a range of other components," said Doboli. "The Cypress Programmable System-on-Chip architecture, with associated text and lab books and a comprehensive development environment, now make it possible for students to gain in-depth exposure to mixed-signal embedded design, including theory and hands-on experience, within a single semester and at minimal expense."
Doboli and Currie recently co-authored "Introduction to Mixed-Signal, Embedded Design." The textbook, which focuses on the PSoC® architecture, is written for upper division undergraduate and first-year graduate curricula and focuses on defining the characteristics of embedded design, embedded mixed-signal architectures, and top-down design. It also presents optimized implementations of these designs. The textbook, and a companion laboratory manual co-authored by Van Ess, will be available from the Cypress University Alliance at booth 217 in the Main Exhibit Hall during the exposition and are also available online at cypress.com/buyonline.
