Cypress’s EZ-USB FX3 USB 3.0 Controller Powers HD Color Video Conference Camera from Oneking Technologies
FX3 Delivers SuperSpeed Bandwidth for Real-Time Streaming of Uncompressed HD Video
TAIPEI, Taiwan, 2014年6月3日 – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ: CY) today announced that Oneking Technologies has selected Cypress’s EZ-USB® FX3™ USB 3.0 controller for its new high-definition (HD) color video conference camera. The HD820-SN6300 camera streams video at full HD resolution and offers 20x optical zoom. The camera leverages the FX3 solution as a USB 3.0 device bridge with 5-Gbps bandwidth. This enables it to stream HD video without requiring compression, which degrades image quality. Cypress is demonstrating the FX3 controller here at the COMPUTEX Taipei 2014 trade show.
EZ-USB FX3 is the industry’s only programmable USB 3.0 peripheral controller. It is equipped with a highly configurable General Programmable Interface (GPIF™II), which can be programmed in 8-, 16-, and 32-bit configurations. GPIF II allows FX3 to communicate directly with application processors, FPGAs, and image sensors and provides a data transfer rate at up to 400 Megabytes per second. The solution’s high performance and flexibility enabled Oneking to quickly bring the camera to market with 1080 progressive scan and 30 frames per second streaming. “We wanted top quality USB 3.0 performance for our flagship HD820-SN6300 video conference camera, which is why we selected the Cypress FX3 solution,” said Lian Wan, Assistant Vice President of Engineering at Oneking. “Our business office customers demand flawless HD video streaming from a camera, and the flexible FX3 controller enabled our designers to meet this challenge, integrate advanced features and get to market quickly.”
“We are pleased to have Oneking choose EZ-USB FX3 for its top-of-the-line HD color video conference camera—powerful validation of its SuperSpeed USB 3.0 performance,” said Mark Fu, senior marketing director of Cypress’s USB 3.0 Business Unit. “FX3 provides Cypress customers with the perfect solution for HD video transfer, delivering the necessary bandwidth to stream without the hassle of buffering.”
