USB 3.0 delivers a significant performance improvement over previous generations because it uses a 5-gigabit-per-second (SuperSpeed) signaling rate. Cypress’s EZ-USB FX3, the next-generation USB 3.0 peripheral controller, provides highly integrated and flexible features that enable developers to add USB 3.0 functionality to any system.

USB 3.0 has a signaling rate of 5 Gbits per second, or 10 times the rate supported by USB 2.0. An FX3 device can deliver throughput close to the theoretical maximum supported by the USB 3.0 specification.
