What’s New in Software for Linux and Android in Q2
Our Q2 focus was on improving our support of flexible tools that make it easier for you to build your products easily and effectively. This release is available here. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from this last quarter:
A-Class Technical Brief
Cypress’ Linux and Android software portfolio now has a Technical Brief! The Cypress’ Technical Brief document series are akin to software data sheets. These documents describe how Cypress solutions (hardware plus software) fit into your product’s application and design goals. It illustrates what Wi-Fi and BT/BLE programs, standards and functions are important to you and the state of their implementation within the Cypress portfolio. Once you read this document it will be clear why Cypress has become a trusted partner for so many clients not just for part selection and our superior performance (robustness and power control) but also for support throughout your product lifecycle journey, including deployments in the field. Please peek at the A-Class technical brief here.
Cypress Connectivity Software is now Validated on Android 10!
You have let us know that Android is a critical part of your product’s identity. We are excited to announce our first integrated Android 10 package has passed muster in the Cypress labs using the NXP iMX8 platform. Cypress customers can use this package as a kind of code reference or as a basis for a production design. This blog post will be updated with the link once available (a week or two from today), in the meantime please contact your sales or support representative for more information about this new offering!
Support for Yocto on iMX6
This release contains Cypress’ first Yocto recipe, where our goal is to ease integration and configuration of our connectivity software into your A-Class host processor’s SDK. Yocto is a widely used custom embedded Linux distribution creation tool that provides a flexible set of tools where embedded developers can share technologies, software stacks, configurations, and general best practices. This specific recipe is built for the iMX6 general compute platform on Yocto release 2.5 (Sumo) and we are already hard at work upgrading this NXP recipe to the Yocto 3.0 (Zeus) release. We anticipate more recipes being created over the coming quarters for specific SDKs, host processors and environments. Learn more here.
Integrated IoT Network Intelligence Analytics Platform
The Cirrent Agent, including the IoT Network Intelligence (INI) solution, is now provided by default within the Cypress connectivity Linux and Android software release.
Cirrent’s INI is a scalable purpose-built, connected-product analytics platform that helps companies building IoT devices find issues in production and resolve those issues faster. With INI, companies can deliver more reliable products throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Zigbee Coexistence is available for the CYW4345x family. The CYW4345x can now act as the master coexistence engine in your design via the 3-wire coexistence interface. This implementation supports Wi-Fi + Zigbee coexistence.
As you can see, we’ve been hard at work to add updates and improvements to allow you to more easily deliver best-in-class, reliable IoT products. Join the Cypress Community to stay up to date on everything that Cypress is doing for Linux and Android.
